Some companies have FAQ pages, here at PPP we like to do things a little bit differently … we have 4 of your top packaging questions/myths unpacked, zapped, eliminated & knocked out. Ding ding ? Round One.
Round One: If I buy less packaging, it’ll cost less.
Mmm, nope. You’ll always be doing yourself a favour if you order more than the MOQ. All packaging involves a Make Ready – this is essentially the amount of time and processes it takes to get your packaging ready for print. It involves things like sourcing the correct board and inks needed, setting up the machines for your packaging specifically, and completing a certain amount of press runs to achieve an accurate print. Depending on your packaging it is much more cost-effective to: order our MOQ and slightly above or decide on a range of quantities (1000,2500, 5000). We pride ourselves on offering cost-effective, competitive pricing and equally pretty impressive packaging!
Round 2: Foiling is expensive?!
Sure, foiling can be expensive if you foil every last letter on your sleeve or box… but you’ll notice most people don’t do that. Most common areas that are foiled on boxes and sleeves are things that are kept consistent throughout your packaging: Logos, emblems, or product names. If you think of a foiling die (the metal stamp that embosses the foil onto your packaging) as a sort of Del Boy knuckleduster, it’ll always concern one area. As the foiling die is used over and over again for the same logo or same product name as you reorder, you’ll soon realise that foiling isn’t as expensive as you once believed, and really does add that premium look to your product.
Round 3: Give me a rough estimate…
Ah, we wish we could, however – here at PPP we don’t do rough estimates, ball park figures or picking numbers out of a hat. We believe in transparency at every step of our process, and this means providing a quote based on a structural blank prototype made to fit your product (after you send it to us) that you’ve tested yourself for fit, suitability etc, or quoting based on measurements you’ve provided us with. Naturally, if you send us your product, the quote we provide based on that design will be accurate compared to a ‘rough estimate’. No one likes nasty surprises or hidden costs, so we’re always up front and honest about getting your design and measurements just right.
Round 4: Is there anything you can’t do?
Okay, we haven’t actually been asked this, but there are – unbelievably, some things we can’t do here at PPP. These are things like labels and corrugated style packaging (think mailer type boxes). We strictly do carton board packaging, it’s what were good at, plus not only can you do a LOT with it, but its more environmentally friendly than those previously mentioned. What’s that old saying? ‘If you specialise in everything you specialise in nothing’? Yep. We’re keen on keeping things special here, although we are working towards expanding our carton board offering soon… but there’ll be more on that later in the year ?
